Charleston City Councilman William Dudley Gregorie said today he will try to get a more specific agreement between the city and State Ports Authority regarding the number of cruise ships that may visit here.
Gregorie floated his idea to City Council Tuesday but decided to pull it from the agenda to get more input from downtown neighborhoods and preservation groups.
"I know of no business that does things of this magnitude with a handshake and a promise," he said. "What I'm looking for is some assurances from the SPA to the city."
