Concern on security screening voiced

When Charleston City Council meets at City Hall, there's an armed police officer in the hallway and the chief of police is usually in the meeting room, but council members are concerned that there's no screening of visitors.
Councilman Jimmy Gallant -- no stranger to violent crime scenes as a volunteer chaplain for the Police Department -- raised the issue at a meeting Tuesday night. He noted there was an incident last week in which a man opened fire at a Florida school board meeting.
